General Logistics Systems Austria GmbH is a subsidiary of General Logistics Systems B.V., Amsterdam (GLS). GLS implements reliable and high quality packet services as well as express deliveries and logistics related value added products.
GLS Austria respects your privacy. All personal data is collected, processed and transferred according to the applicable legal regulations.
Personal data comprises details on personal or factual circumstances of a specific or determinable individual. This includes information such as name, address, telephone number and date of birth. Information that cannot be connected to a specific or determinable individual, such as favourite web pages or the number of users on a page is not considered as personal data.
Security of personal data
GLS Austria is an enterprise which renders public postal services or contributes to rendering such services. Regarding its postal service, GLS Austria is obliged to preserve the "Postgeheimnis" (secrecy of the post) and is subject to the regulations of the “Datenschutzgesetz" (privacy law) and the “Postmarktgesetz" (postal law). All employees of GLS have signed an agreement regarding the protection of confidential data.
By technical and organisational security measures, GLS does everything in its power to protect your personal data from loss or misuse. Your data is saved and processed only in protected systems which are secured by appropriate measures.
Consignment and consignee data:
Transfer and processing
For performing parcel services and fulfilling contracts with its customers GLS uses consignee data (Name, address, postcode, town, country, partly phone no.) provided by the customer (shipper). GLS is obliged to ensure that this data is handled according to applicable law.
The transferred consignee data, all scans of the parcels in the GLS system and the proof of delivery (POD) are processed and saved by GLS Austria.
GLS Austria uses personal consignment and consignee data only for fulfilling its contractual obligations. Any other use of the data is not permitted.
Information and transmission of data
Generally, only the shipper and consignee of a parcel are allowed to receive information about a parcel. Thirds (e.g. governmental authorities) will receive information exclusively according to applicable law.
Safekeeping and deletion periods
Proof of delivery, consignment and consignee data is archived and stored according to the legal regulations. Archived data is saved on storage media, stored in secured facilities and only accessible for authorised personnel.
Transmitting information via e-mail
If you want to contact us via unencrypted e-mail, please note that we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of the transmitted information. The contents of these e-mails can possibly be read by unauthorised thirds on the internet.
Collection, Processing and Use of personal data on the GLS website
Each time a user accesses a GLS web page, data is saved in a log file. The following data is temporarily saved:
- Date and time of request
- IP address or DNS name of the requesting computer
- requested page (URL)
- HTTP answer code
- Client operating system and version
- Browser and version
Basically the GLS website is divided into open and closed area. The closed area partly serves to fulfil the contract between customer and GLS and is only accessible after login with individual user name and password.
Among other functions the open area provides a contact form, Track and Trace functionality and the Parcel Shop search. Personal data entered in the contact form such as name, street, postcode, city, etc. is required for processing your enquiry and will not be provided to third parties.
The data from (1) is anonymously analysed for statistical purposes. Statistical reports are used to evaluate the usage of the GLS website. Particularly, the order in which the pages are visited and the path taken between pages is represented. GLS uses this information to improve usability and optimise the benefit for the visitors delivered by the website.
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so called "cookies", i.e. text files that are saved on your computer, allowing an analysis of how you use the web site.
