ISO 14001 Certification

A transparent and effective environmental management system – guaranteed. One after the other, GLS subsidiaries will be certified by DEKRA as meeting the ISO 14001 standard. GLS Netherlands was certified in March 2011, the GLS subsidiaries in Germany, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg received the certification in September 2011. Further companies are planned to follow suit in 2012.

Internal Eco Footprint

Every year, we collect and consolidate all the respective data related to our three target categories – emissions, resources and waste management – from all GLS subsidiaries in Europe. The method we use is based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the ISO 14064 standard and has been verified externally by DEKRA in July 2011. Our internal Eco Footprint also provides the basis to calculate our per-parcel carbon emissions.

Environmental Representatives

Our local Environmental Representatives in all European GLS countries ensure every day that group-wide measures are being carried out at the local level. They promote the exchange of ideas and best Think-Green practices throughout the group. As the local contact persons, they are the front line when it comes to gathering internal Eco Footprint data and results.
