Toulouse, 26 September 2011. According to the terms of an agreement reached on 15 September 2011, and following GLS’s strategic decision to refocus on its Parcel and Day Express activities, GLS France is transferring the Optical and Spare parts segments of its InNight activities to Geodis Ciblex, a 100% subsidiary of the Geodis Group.

The InNight activities include all overnight express shipments, whereas the transfer being made by GLS France relates to InNight-Parcel (Optical) and InNight-Small Parcel (Spare parts) products. “GLS only offers its InNight solutions to French clients”, explains Emeric Bastid, Managing Director of GLS France. “In future, we will be concentrating on our key business: the day shipment of express parcels – all over Europe.”

Geodis reinforces its night express activities 

For Geodis, this agreement represents a dual opportunity: firstly, to strengthen its position on the French InNight segment by contributing new clients and volumes, and secondly, to confirm the expansion of its service provision. “This operation will significantly increase the expertise already developed by Geodis Ciblex in terms of night express delivery throughout France, particularly via its H Night service”, says Jean-Louis Demeulenaere, Chief Executive Officer of the Geodis Group. “This takeover will further boost our development on the Optical and Spare parts segments.”

The high quality of service specific to the InNight products will be guaranteed by means of close cooperation between GLS and Geodis Ciblex throughout the operational activity transfer phase, due to be completed on 26 November this year.
