Information about the motorway toll law
Background on the motorway toll
In accordance with Directive No. 2006/38/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2006 all European Union member states are obliged to introduce by 1 January 2012 a charge for vehicles of over 3,5 tonnes for using road infrastructure. In most European Union member states this charge is already in place.
In Poland, in accordance with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 22 March 2011 on National Roads (…) (Polish Journal of Laws (Dz.U.) of 2011, No. 80, item 433) this charge shall be introduced on 1 July 2011.
The extra costs for the transport industry caused by the motorway toll are inevitably passed on to the customer and therefore result in an increase of the consumer prices.
The new "motorway toll law" results in a considerable increase of costs also for GLS Poland. Cost increases of this extent can neither be absorbed by rationalisation measures, nor be borne by the carrier.
Therefore GLS Poland has to pass on the additional charges to the customers. Since the new motorway toll law comes into effect, our customers will find find the toll separately disclosed in the invoices.
GLS and the motorway toll
The current road surcharge is 0,27 PLN net per parcel. It shall be added to remuneration for the provision of transportation services as of 1 July 2011.
To ensure transparency of settlements for the provision of services the road surcharge shall be given on the VAT invoice as a separate line item.
Just contact your GLS depot for more information about how the road surcharge affects your parcel delivery.
